Kids Play Tunes was established to bring the live music performance experience to New York City public school children through music mentoring, after-school group programs, and concerts in a safe atmosphere at real New York City music venues. The goal of Kids Play Tunes is to provide instruments, mentors, and teachers to ignite the children’s desire to participate in music and performance.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will support music education and help promote awareness of music in New York City schools through the efforts of two award-winning, nonprofit organizations: Education Through Music and the Electronic Music Foundation.

Education Through Music was founded to promote the integration of music into the curricula of disadvantaged schools in order to enhance students' academic performance and general development. ETM forms long-term partnerships with inner-city elementary schools that lack the resources to develop school-wide music programs.

The Electronic Music Foundation's mission is to explore the creative and cultural potential in the convergence of music, sound, technology, and science, and apply what is learned towards the betterment of human life. EMF organizes concerts, festivals, and other events in New York City and elsewhere.
